Mirror Symmetry
Abstract:
Since its discovery by string theorists 20 years, mirror symmetry has become one of the dominant ideas in many areas of algebraic geometry. In this talk I will describe the basic idea of mirror symmetry from the both the naive 20-year-old picture to the more modern homological mirror symmetry. The humble 2-torus will be explored in detail. I will aim to make this talk accessible to *ALL* graduate students!
