Thue equations and the method of Chabauty-Coleman
Abstract:
In this joint work with Tom Tucker, we refine the method of Chabauty-Coleman and succeed in applying it to the class of Thue equations. This enables us to prove, when the hypothesis of Chabauty-Coleman are satisfied, that the number of primitive solutions to a Thue equation is bounded by a constant depending on the genus of the curve only. This provides evidence for a general conjecture of Mazur.
