Course Policy:
Grader policy: Please be
considerate with the grader. Every assignment
must be legible and pages must be properly stapled with your name
clearly written down on the front page . It is to the grader's
discretion to decide whether to grade or not work that is not properly
stapled, that has no name assigned, or can't be read.
Homework policy: You (the
students) are allowed to discuss the homework
among yourselves and offer advise, but the but the final product
must be your own work. In particular, copying homework or allowing
another to copy yours is not allowed and is a violation of Duke's
Community Standard. Make sure to give credit to anybody
(person, book, journal, the web, etc.) if you are directly using
his/her/their work to solve a problem in the homework in the way
of a quote or bibliographical reference.
Late homework or Missed midterm:
No late homework is accepted under
any
circumstance; similarly, no make up test is given under any
circumstances. A missed homework or missed test corresponds to a zero
grade. When sickness or an act of nature completely out of your
control is involved (provided
that the corresponding official
documentation is filed) the weight of the corresponding
missed
homework will be partially added to the final test.
Students representing Duke in
Academic, Athletic or any event
sanctioned by Duke must notify (present official documentation) the
instructor if there are conflicts with due and midterm dates in
advance. In such cases, at the discretion of the instructor,
either due dates and midterms will be moved ahead of time, or the
weight of the missed work will be added to the final.
Gadgets: No electronic gadgets (calculators, iPods,
etc.) are allowed during examinations.
