Elizabeth Garrett Layton
(22 November 1822 - 2 November 1912)
was the mother of Alexander Layton
(2 February 1860 - 5 July 1930). who was
the father of H. E. Layton's paternal grandfather,
Jesse Waldon Layton (16 May 1887 - 25 April 1968).
Elizabeth's mother, Rachel Slone Garrett,
lived for nearly 105 years (26 August 1771 - 1 May 1876)
and claimed to have seen
George Washington in full military dress.
