Mathematics 196: Seminar in Mathematical Modeling

Models in Biology and Medicine
in Fall Semester 2008
Bulletin description:
Introduction to techniques used in the construction,
analysis, and evaluation of mathematical models.
Individual modeling projects in biology, chemistry,
economics, engineering, medicine, or physics.
Prerequisite: Mathematics 108 or 131; or consent of instructor.
The bulletin description (above) is a good indicator of the
course content, except that the potential modeling projects
in this course will involve biology, medicine, and closely
related topics. Within this range, students will choose
their own projects, with the consent of the instructor.

Routine Assignments
- Report due Thursday, September 4.
A report on any aspect of fish gills.
The report should be not less than 2 pages.

type at the end of the 2d page or on a 3d page.

that describe a potential term project in some detail.
