Math 114.01 and 114.02

Plan for Week 10

Week 10 (March 22 - March 26)

On Monday we will finish our discussion of the one-dimensional heat equation and begin discussion of the one-dimensional wave equation. On Wednesday we will review the separation-of-variables technique for finding solutions of initial/boundary value problems for partial differential equations and apply it to the one-dimensional wave equation. On Friday we will meet in the lab to study solutions of the one-dimensional wave equation.

I am assigning a minimum of hand-in work this week. I encourage you to work through Part 1 of the One-Dimensional Heat Equation module (not Introduction to the One-Dimensional Heat Equation), and, if you did not do the lab before Spring Break, work through Review of Fourier Series.

Homework due on Friday, March 26.

Section 16.3: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8
Use Maple to do the integral calculations.
