Here are posted useful information concerning the organization of the lecture, as well as the syllabus and the homework assignments.

Elementary Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems (8th

We will cover sections 1.1-1.3, 2.1-2.7, 3.1,3.4,3.5, 3.7, 5.1-5.8, 6.1-6.6, 10.1-10.8, 11.1-11.5 (not necessarily in this order).

Grade

There will be two midterm exams on October 3rd (250pm to 405pm) and December 5th (250pm to 435pm)

The final grade will be computed as follows: Homework contribute 10 percent, the midterm exams 25 percent each, and the final exam 40 percent.

Letter grades will be assigned only at the end of the semester, once the block final has been graded and a curve has been defined.

Homework Assignments

Homework is indispensable for a good understanding of the material. Mathematics is actually more about understanding than about memorizing. You are strongly encouraged to work all of them out.

Remarks

Each assigned homework will have equal weight in the final homework score.
The three lowest scores will be dropped when calculating your homework grade.
Late homework will not be accepted under any circumstances, as it is a major inconvenience to the grader.
Only selected problems from selected sets will be graded.
Please print your name, staple your homework, and write down the homework number.
Solutions for the midterm exams will be posted on the web or sent by email to the mailinglist of the class.
Check regularly your email as I will send emails periodically on the mailinglist of the class.
No makeup exams. A missed exam counts as zero points.
Use of books, notes, and calculators will not be allowed on any exam.
Grades will be posted in Blackboard
