Nuevo León, Mexico -- July 2008

nl mexFrom this page you can link to pages for various parts of our trip to Monterrey, Mexico, in the state of Nuevo León (see map at right, which highlights the location of the state within Mexico). Click on the map to see the location of Monterrey and its metropolitan area within Nuevo León.

On each page there are thumbnail pictures corresponding to each of the full-size pictures. Click on a thumbnail to see the full-size picture. Use arrow buttons and thumbnail button to navigate each collection. The Home button returns to this page.

The division into pages is somewhat arbitrary -- the hotel, Macroplaza, museums, riverwalk (paseo), and river (rio) are all quite close together, and the riverwalk connects the museum area to the Foundry Park (Parque Fundidora), which contains the Parrot House (Casa de los Loros). The main campus of the University (UANL), site of ICME-11, is a 20-minute metro ride north of the city center, and its arts campus, site of the University Theater, is south of the Rio Santa Catarina, which runs west to east just south of the city center. The remaining sites were those we visited by tour bus, further south of the city, but still within the metropolitan area of Monterrey: the towns of Santiago, El Cercado, and Montemorelos, and the Horsetail Falls (Cascada Cola de Caballo).
