The 1998 production by the Durham Savoyards, Ltd., was Iolanthe, or The Peer and the Peri. The show was performed in Carolina Theater, Durham, NC, April 23-26 and in Thalian Hall, Wilmington, NC, May 2-3. |

This is the peers' costume for their magnificent Tantarah entrance to the Arcadian landscape scene in the first act. (Thereafter we wore morning coats and top hats.) Four of the peers were trumpeters or banner bearers -- instead of having servants to perform those functions -- probably because there were 20 of us and room for only 16 to dance.
