| Over the weekend of November 3-5, Troop 412 participated in a Railroading Camporee, held at the site of the historic Spencer Shops, in Spencer, North Carolina. In the picture on the right above you can see the old "Southern Railroad" insignia on the water tank. | |

We had two unexpected treats while we were there. The first was seeing the workmen use the turntable to move these two diesel-electric engines from one stall in the roundhouse to another. The other unexpected treat was the preformance given by a local band Saturday evening. (Sorry, we have no pictures of the band.) |

There were a number of "stations" (no pun intended) where the boys learned about trains and life working with trains. One of the most popular was this one where the boys learned about the function of cabooses and about life aboard a caboose. | ![]() |
