Troop 412 Helps Hurricane Floyd Victims

Troop 412 travelled to Rocky Mount, NC, on Saturday, December 4, to help a local scout troop in their recovery efforts following hurrican Floyd earlier in the year. We met the scoutmaster and troop members at the Metropolitan Baptist church in downtown Rocky Mount, and spent the morning cleaning our their damaged scout hut.

After spending the morning cleaning debris out of the scout hut and sorting salvageable items from unsalvageable items, the boys took a short break for lunch. After lunch some boys cleaned yards of elderly church members who had flood damaged homes. Others in our group helped a crew from Habitat from Humanity, who were ripping out flood-damaged sheetrock from a house they had built. Some of that activity is shown in the pictures below.

Watch your step, boys. Watch your step, boys.

Has anyone seen my hat? You will notice at the edge of the picture to the left a camper trailer in which the family was living until their home could be repaired. One, two, cha-cha-cha
