Many students participate in summer
research programs and internships, mostly at other colleges and universities
and in businesses and government agencies. Of particular note are "Research
Experiences for Undergraduates," which are sponsored by the National Science
Foundation and conducted by mathematics faculty at a number of colleges
and universities.
Summer opportunities will be advertised
on departmental bulletin boards and through electronic mail, usually in
the late fall and early winter months; students should apply as early as
practicable.
