Minicourse: Mathematical Biology

This course will be run as a seminar meeting once a week for the whole term. The listed time is 8:45am on Friday mornings, but we will actually meet 9:00 - 9:50 AM in Physics 119. There are no prerequisites for the course, but (except by special permission of the instructor) only graduate students in mathematics may register for it.

The purpose of the seminar is to broaden the education of mathematics graduate students by showing them how a wide variety mathematical issues (ODES, PDEs, graph theory, probability theory, geometry) arise naturally when studying important questions in the biological sciences. I will organize the seminar, give some lectures and lead many of the discussions. Other faculty members, and graduate students if they wish, may also lecture and lead discussions. No biological background is required.
