Instructor
David R. Morrison
Description
This course will focus on (topological) K-theory. It will include the
following topics:
- Vector bundles
- The Grothendieck construction
- K-theory and examples
- Algebraic approaches to the study of K-theory
- Bott periodicity
- The Chern character
If time permits, we will also discuss some applications to the physics of
D-branes.
Prerequisites
Algebraic Topology I (Math 261) is essential;
Algebraic Topology II (Math 262) is recommended.
