I intend to discuss the Yang-Mills equations and the Yang-Mills-Higgs equations for connections on vector bundles over 3 and 4 dimensional manifolds. We will study the geometry and topology of the moduli spaces of solutions to these equations, in special cases, and examine the physical and mathematical implications of the structure of these moduli spaces.
