The following are links to
material described by Lang Moore in his presentation to the MAA Partnerships
Workshop on Friday, July 20.
- The PowerPoint Presentation made on July 20.
- MathDL
- Temporary home page for Mathematical Sciences Digital Library. The real home page should be up next week.
- JOMA: Journal of Online Mathematics and Its Applications. The first issue appeared in January; the next should appear late next week. Check out the mathlets.
- The Duke Connected Curriculum Project (CCP)
- CCP: Link to the home page of the Duke Connected Connected Curriculum Project. These are examples of online interactive lab modules. Most have discussion, text, applets, and instruction in HTML pages and a link to a variety of computer algebra worksheets for student experimentation and reporting.
Check out the following modules. The first three have annotated Maple Worksheets
- Equiangular Spirals in the Multivariable Calculus section.
- Radioactive Decay in the Differential Calculus Section.
- Logistic Growth in the Differential Equations Section.
- Introduction to the One-Dimensional Heat Equation in Engineering Mathematics. This module uses Java applets rather than a computer algebra system worksheet.
-
Post CALC: Longer modules designed for use by students who have finished a
year of calculus in high school and still have time left in their high school
careers. The combination HTML/worksheet format is similar to that of CCP except
that only Maple worksheets are available at this time.
-
Virtual Laboratories in Probability and Statistics: A site created by Kyle Siegrist, University of Alabama at Huntsville. This is a very nice set of applets illustrating concepts and applications in probability and statistics.
- Web Feats Homepage: This is the home page for a workshop completed last week for high school teachers interested in developing web-based learning materials. These are "works in progress," but show what can be done by folks in a few days. Also, you will find many more mathematical links there.
