Description: Measures; Lebesgue integral; L<^>p spaces; Daniell integral, differentiation
theory, product measures. Not open to students who have taken the former Mathematics 281.
Prerequisites: Mathematics 204 or equivalent.
MTH 242: Real Analysis II.
Description: Metric spaces, fixed point theorems, Baire category theorem, Banach spaces,
fundamental theorems of functional analysis, Fourier transform. Not open to students who
have taken the former Mathematics 282.
Prerequisites: Mathematics 241 or equivalent.
MTH 245: Complex Analysis.
Description: Complex calculus, conformal mapping, Riemann mapping theorem, Riemann
surfaces. Not open to students who have taken Mathematics 285.
Prerequisites: Mathematics 204 or equivalent.
MTH 287: Probability.
Description: Random variables, independence, expectations, laws of large numbers, central
limit theorem, Markoff chains. Not open to students who have taken Mathematics 290.
Prerequisites: Mathematics 241 or equivalent.
