Impact on Society
The research Dr. Keyfitz does has a definite impact on
society. She was recently named a John
and Rebecca Moores University Scholar for her efforts at modeling the
interactions between oil and water. Since she lives in Houston, this research
could have a large impact on her home town. With a more accurate understanding
of the way water and oil interact, oil companies may be better able to
decide how to extract oil from deep underground using water.
She also has a profound impact on society by simply teaching
course at a University. Teaching students how to do something is one of
the greatest efforts anyone can be involved in, and it certainly has an
impact on society.
