Anna Georgieva
Anna Georgieva is originally from Bulgaria. After beginning her
undergraduate career in Bulgaria as a computer science major, she was
given the opportunity to come to
the United States in 1989 through a special scholarship program. She
completed her undergraduate degree at Denison University in Ohio where
she changed her major to math.
Anna Georgieva then studied at Duke where she got her Ph.D. in math. Dr.
Georgieva
then completed her post-doc at the Chemical Industry Institute of
Toxicology in Research Triangle Park, working with Dr. Julie Kimball who
spoke to the Advance students at Duke in the fall of 2000. Dr. Georgieva
is
now a professor at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, New
Jersey.
